"Interros" is the main partner of the Russian State Hermitage Museum and supports innovative projects of the museum. President of the "Interros", Vladimir Potanin, in 2003 was elected chairman of the board of trustees of the State Hermitage.
The basis of cooperation of the museum and the company is the implementation of the large-scale project "Grand Hermitage." It provides the reorganization of the central zone of the historic center of St. Petersburg and the creation around Palace Square, a unique cultural center, which will include new Hermitage museum exhibitions, entertainment and commercial recreation centers.
One of the steps in the project was the restoration of the Chariot of Glory on the arch of the General Staff and the decorations of the arch. In the spring of 2003 in Paris, a Russian-French cultural event was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg. Masterpieces of French and Russian art of the first third of the XIX century from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, other leading Russian museums, and the Army Museum (Paris) were exhibited in the Cathedral of Invalides.
In 2001, "Interros" launched a publishing program, the purpose of which - the development of cultural and historical heritage of Russia, which to this day is in museum vaults and archives. As part of the publishing program 11 books were published - Special Editions, distinguished corporate identity, design quality, and originality. In May 2006, the publishing program "Interros" became a participant and organizer of the Tenth International Art Fair "Art Moscow", presenting a video installation project, "Kniga IV. CCTV." The conference brought together leading international curators of the Biennale of Contemporary Art.
For large-scale projects in the field of Education and Culture in 1999 the Vladimir Potanin Charity Foundation was created.
The purpose of the foundation - to help those who will be the future intellectual elite of the country. Long-term scholarship and grant programs of the foundation, target gifted young people - students and pupils of the leading public universities, as well as a gifted teacher, successfully combining teaching and research activities.
The uniqueness of all the educational projects of the foundation, is that they are targeted and can provide specific assistance. The decision process for the scholarships or grants are made by results from a multi-stage, competitive selection.
The foundation is currently implementing five scholarship and seven grant programs.
