In 2014, our Board defined the tasks of the development of mass sports and priorities of the new federal program for building sports facilities.
Today on the agenda - elite sport, including the issues of legal regulation of professional sports. We have repeatedly approached this "weight", as it’s called, with everyone walking around it - let's talk more in detail today.
Creating conditions for activity among the professional sports organizations - is an extremely important topic. I must say right away, that the purposeful, systematic government policy in the field of high performance sport in recent years, has given positive results.
It’s sufficient to recall Russia's victory at the Universiade in Kazan, the Moscow World Championships in Track and Field Athletics, and at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi. The objective, set in the strategy for development of this industry, are being completed.
And here should be noted the considerable merit of the Fund for the support of Russian Olympians. This year it celebrates it’s 10th anniversary. During this time, it has realized 57 programs worth about 8 billion rubles, primarily designed to support promising athletes. The vast majority of them became prize-winners and champions of the Olympic Games. And this is a good, if not excellent, result that should be developed.
