On September 11, in the Cathedral Square of the Kremlin of Moscow, the Russian Olympians Foundation awarded 77 champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The ceremony took place immediately after the athletes were given state awards in the Kremlin Palace. The Foundation's grants - automobiles - were presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation Dmitry Medvedev and Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman - Chairman of the Presidium of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation Igor Levitin.
Dmitry Medvedev addressed the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games with a welcoming speech on behalf of the Russian Olympians Foundation:
“I want to sincerely congratulate you on the wonderful results that you achieved during the Olympics in Tokyo. You all won medals fighting beautifully, demonstrating your excellent form and always remaining strong willed which is, as we know, never easy.
As for the spectators, The Olympics are always a celebration, and though the world became quite complicated due to pandemic restrictions, these are still such special, unforgettable moments of pride for our country, for the team. No matter what flag you performed under, you still represented Russia, and, of course, each of us, from those who supported you, felt proud of your results. I want to thank you again for this, I also want to appeal to your coaches, mentors, because they were the ones who led you to the Olympic medals, and their contribution is also very, very significant.
New Olympic Games are ahead. They are coming rather soon due to the delay which happened with these Olympics. Paris will become a host for the upcoming Games in 2024. I'm sure all of you will be preparing. As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Olympians Foundation, I want to assure you that we will continue the work that we have been doing in order to promote the development of high-performance sports in our country and to create comfortable modern facilities for athletes, coaches, for all specialists who are involved in this process.
Many words have already been said today, primarily by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Now is the moment you receive gifts from the Russian Olympians Foundation. Let me congratulate you once again."
The champions and prize-winners of the Olympics were awarded with BMW X5 and X3 automobiles of various configurations.
Our team won 20 gold, 27 silver and 23 bronze medals reaching fifth place in the overall medal standings of the Olympic Games.
The Foundation's grants presentation ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for Supporting the Activities of the State Council of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Alexey Kulakovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of PhosAgro PJSC Andrey Guryev, Minister of Sports of Russia, member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation Oleg Matytsin, Head of FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova, Executive Director of the Foundation Alexander Katushev.
